ADVENTURE!

Clyde had told us that crocs like calm water, and this was not calm.
The current greedily grabbed my slim legs and almost sucked me under.
So I'd probably be safe from crocodile attacks if I waded across, but if Ian
was going to be washed away in the Toyota, or worse tip over, I decided
I wanted to be with him. Maybe I could help him. When I climbed into
the truck, like Ian, I wound down my window, ready to jump out.

I could tell Ian was tense. He didn't say a word as the truck pushed
into the swollen creek. About half way across water curled up over the
hood like an ocean wave. It was much deeper than we realized.
He gunned the faltering engine and cursed.

“Bloody strewth! She's deep. The current's got us, Rob-o. We's drifting.”

The truck started to float. Terror seized my heart. My mouth went dry
