An Urgent Request

Posted by Robin Easton

Dear friends,
(Move cursor over photos to see captions)

Today I have a request . I am currently helping a good friend of mine, Robb Kloss to save the Ruahines Mountain range in the southeastern part of the North Island of New Zealand. Robb has a beautiful site full of his camping trips into the Ruahines Mountains. He knows these hills like the back of his hand and is madly in love with them. I am part of a four person team that has written a petition to save this range. Would you please take three minutes to read and sign THE PETITION, which will explain how these mountains are threatened. The petition is brief and will not take much of your time. It is posted on a highly reputable and major environmental site, which some of you already know: CARE2. The petition and signatures must be registered with the “powers to be” by 3 October, which does not give us much time, so please act now.

Each year the world grows smaller as we increase in population. Although New Zealand is not in my backyard, in many ways it is, because we are running out of pristine wilderness all over the globe.

The cry from these mountains fell in my lap and it took a day out of my life to be part of this team. I did not turn away from this cry because I felt compelled to act. Instead of wasting my time dwelling on all the destruction in the world I choose to take positive powerful action when and whe re I can. It is my way of protecting that which I love most, Mother Earth.

I hope you will be part of this positive action by signing the petition. Please forward this email to your friends, family and “countrymen” and other-countrymen! (chuckles). Thank you my dear friends for your help and time. It truly means “the world” to me, and future generations.

As my friend Robb asks: When do we as people stop raping this planet and start actually asking, “How can we live with less?”

From my heart,
Robin

PS If any of you know how to Digg or Stumble this post would you please do so. It will help get the word out. Thank you kind souls. I am eternally grateful for your help in doing this. In the meantime I will try to put a stumble button this page. (Have never done it; not that that ever stopped me.) :) :)

“Expedition on Kurpie We started tour from the valley river of Bug. In Wyszków was properly only to visit the church. Today will be on the river.

Bug is a wild river, pour in the spring. Therefore, on the southern shore of nothing builds. After the horizon of fields and meadows. Only with the passage in the pine trees. There is also a lot of settlements chalet sites (half the kingdom for such a house, seriously). Coming towards Liwiec, a small river flows into to the Bug – we hit the solution to bypass Wyszkow, which was not on the map. The construction was to see the need. On the way lost route, the additive was heat.Detailed relationship of that date can be read in NOTE on bikestats.
Turning to Liwiec – at the mouth of the Bugu is very plate, you can easy to swim. We used to visit him separately.

A few kilometers away caught us storm and she wetted altogether. We wasted away the forest small forest clearing. It was the coast of the Forest Kamieniecka. Miraculous smell of the forest.

At the height of summer residence village Wywłoka we turn with a bicycle route in the direction of the Bug we was going and further along the flood embankment Grassland watching the beautiful landscapes.

In the meantime, join us “Uncle Tomi”(nick) and in the evening between we pitched a tent (Maniot). The next day, and I Finito (my brtother) and we soaked legs.. ToMi took a bath entire. Daredevil, Bug is very dangerous river. Better to take a bath in Liwiec. Definitely.

Oh, my dear friends:

How truly blessed I am. I am sitting here right now, as I write, with tears running down my face. The way you have all stood up for the Earth is absolutely precious and reassuring. It makes me realize once again what I believe in my heart: there are REALLY GOOD PEOPLE in this world, people who DO care, people who want to protect the Earth, people with true hearts and strong minds who are willing to stand up for what they believe. More importantly and more simply, people who are very beautiful. That is what moves me to tears. Seeing how you have all responded to me and this situation fills me with pride for everyone of you. I am proud to call you my friends.

I am sending each one of you my deepest gratitude and respect,
Love,
Robin

Kia ora Robin,
A long day. Grass roots talking to so many people ill informed by “media” and misinformation. I try to remain calm and let my passion speak for itself. Kia ora to you for helping me find my voice. Even if we lose this battle, I am in for the war, as sad as it is for me to write that. This cause goes far beyond New Zealand. I hope one day I can show you the Ruahines. You rock!!

Robb

Signed with a smile on my face and hope in my heart that through our united actions we will be able to awaken more people on this planet, especially those intent on destroying it, to acknowledge its magnificent splendor and understand that our existence depends on preserving this home that we call our Earth!

Thank you Robin and Robb for being such great advocates for the environment and all that is pure, natural and beautiful!

Hi Robin

It was a pleasure to meet you. Also I thank you for approving of my voice to Robb’s poem. Please you have my permission to use the recorded poem in ways necessary that you help heal mother nature’s wounds before they become deadly and proactively prevent the opening up of new attacks on mother earth. The quality of our lives depends on how deeply we respect those gifts mother earth has given us. I will add your site to my blog list.

Kia ora Robin,
A beautiful Saturday spring morning here in Aotearoa. The Ruahines glisten in the distance, the Tui’s fill my yard with their lovely songs. I am off to the Farmers Market to talk to people about all this – and buy some beautiful fruit and veges as well. I take the spirit and thoughts of all these lovely people whom have commented and helped us. Thank you all for caring. Robin, words can never express my appreciation. You rock!

Dear Friends, I want to thank you again for your kindness and contribution toward protecting Mother Earth. I am proud of you and blessed to have you in my life. As you can read from Robb’s comment (see his comment) he is also deeply grateful. You contribute to his inner strength by being a support not only to the land but to Robb. It can be a hard path protecting the wild places. These places have no voice to protect themselves, except the one that souls like you, Robb and myself give it. Maybe we are the voice of the land. But as a species and collective we have lost our way. I pray everyday that we will find our way back to that which we are part of, that which we ARE….Mother Earth. Bless you dear souls for caring.

“While with an eye made quiet by the power of harmony, and the deep power of joy, we see into the life of things.” Wordsworth, possible only as we live with nature, not destroy it. Industrial wind turbines with their limitations and problems do not belong in the Ruahines.

Robin, I will sign the petition! Your cry for help in preserving a precious part of our natural heritage resonates with me. It is our home and our survival.

I know Robb’s blog and he sure brings home the joy of wandering and bearing witness to the beauty and wonder of this planet.
