Bizarro Week

Posted by Robin Easton

Talk about bizarre, I just wrote a wise juicy post about “letting go”. It was my attempt to give my Bizarro Week some deep spiritual context. Lol! :) And can you believe it? The post just vanished when I tried to align the text. Yup! Completely vanished, right now, before my very eyes! Well, that’s par for the course and ties in nicely with the rest of my week. The post is gone, the power went out, my computer crashed, my garage sale was rained out and my living room is piled with junk, and then the fridge and freezer died, dripping mess everywhere. To top it all off, like a cherry on a hot fudge sundae, I just now felt something crawling in my pants. I kid you not! I just got done jumping up and whipping off my jeans. Low and behold I found a little black spider crawling up my leg. Very tiny. Hope it’s not a black widow, as he bit me before I got my pants off. Even a tiny one can give a nasty bite. So there you have it. This week, you get what you get and hopefully you’ll chuckle over the video. Just remember, when all else fails “let go and enjoy the ride”. Have a great week; I’m headed out to the garden to eat worms.

Love and laughter,
Robin

PS Video dedicated to a beautiful wee girl named Liv, because she loves to laugh and she loves me. Also to her remarkable mom who has a site titled: Ophelia Rising

We can think of these kinds of events in our lives as either disasters or bad omens,

or

We can think of that which breaks down and vanishes as an exponential emptying process preparing you to receive in greater abundance. The spirit world is emptying your energy field of attachments to align you with something greater.

The spider was angry because you are disassembling his web and you are no longer stuck in it to feed the little guy. I got bit a lot this summer by spiders.

Robin Replies

Dear Bern, This is so timely what you wrote about break downs and vanishes and receiving a greater abundance. All week long that is exactly how I was seeing my week. I am a very optimistic person and all week I kept thinking how this was an emptying out of the old to make room for the new to come. And I have some big changes coming in my life that I will eventually talk about in a future post. This week I felt more strongly than I’ve felt in a long time like I was being prepped to make room for new experiences, new things and new ways of being in the world. It also felt like a severing. As if everything just came to a screeching halt to make a clean break from what had gone before. It was just amazing read what you wrote here when it was how I felt and saw the whole experience. THANK YOU for taking the time to share it.

Dear Robin ~ these things happen. I appreciate the humour you put into this video and the article. However, what made me concern was the spider; yes those can be nasty…But after all was not as dramatic as the flood that people have lost everything under water.
It certainly makes one appreciate things in life more, when something like that happens!

Thank you so much for sharing a portion of your ‘Bizarro Week’ with the readers!

Robin Replies

Dear Zuzanna, It turns out the spider was just a normal little spider. We do have a lot of black widows here, but even those are very shy and will drop to the ground before biting. They are not “attack” spiders, which some are…well, they can be more aggressive or “charge”. Black widows will usually only bite if they squeezed between you leg, foot or hand and some object. Also they are most active at night. —And I soooo agree with you, dear heart, that there are people going through experiences and circumstances that make my week look like a holiday. I think about this every week. I can’t help but think about it. My husband is the same way. No matter how rough it gets we are always aware that there are those suffering intolerable conditions in their lives. Both my husband I never lose sight of this, which is a blessing for us. We also need so little to be happy. I am blessed to journey through life with a man who has his priorities straight. Thank you for reminding us all of the important things. :)

This was an amazing post, thank you for sharing, and the video is very funny, yet touching, it’s amazing how with everything that happened in your Bizzaro week, you still manage to laugh, not giggle, but laugh out loud! you are an inspiration!!!

Heeey my dear friend!! I thought of you this week when I went out one morning and there was…aah..hem…there was…iiii…ic…ICE!! Okay, that was hard to say, but I am finally ready to relinquish my hold on summer and will joyously send it your way. But ONLY because you are SUCH a good sport and kind soul. I wouldn’t do this for just anyone. LOL!! Yes, there was ice on everything. A heavy frost hit and I could actually see my breath. BUT I must warn you that we have since had some 75 degree Fahrenheit days and this Sat is supposed to be 80. So just letting you know that you may still have a bit of cold yet before you are broiled. And just think, while you are broiling, I’ll be nice and cool up here. LOL!! —Also, I loved your comment here. SO happy that you saw the humor in it. Thank you for being an inspiration my my life Gene, and for making me laugh. You also have a GREAT sense of humor. For that I am grateful. Girl, yes. I can relate. My A/C went out, that’s a big deal down here in 90 degree fall weather Louisiana. Then the drain backed up and water was everywhere, so I’m sweating and sopping up H2O like crazy. My car was recalled and then… you get the picture. I’m so feeling you. Love your “take it in stride and laugh” attitude, that’s my “Susie Sunshine” approach. Keep a close eye on the spider bite.

Dear Lynn, What a treat and honor to see you here. I laughed over the whole tone of your comment. All I can say is that you’re one gusty gal. Just love that about your whole website and writing. I think you had a harder week than me. Backed up drains are worse than fridge sludge and melting food everywhere. I’ve had drains do that and it ain’t no fun! Every moment, the universe is inviting you to reframe where you are. It is always possible to focus on advantages and blessings in every circumstance. Life is all about transformation. As one learns to detach from outcomes, then it becomes apparent that everything that happens is in your favor, guiding you back to love, source and all that really matters. All else falls away.

Robin Replies
Dear Liara, this is beautiful and something that I totally love and agree with. I REALLY love the part: “…As one learns to detach from outcomes, then it becomes apparent that everything that happens is in your favor, guiding you back to love…” I’ve found this SO true in my own life and I now like to look at my life and everything happening in it (felt, sensed, seen, experienced) simply as a journey back to love, a journey home. This is my purpose, or more succinctly, it is who I am. Seen in that light little else matters. And, as you say, there is freedom when all else falls away. Thank you for sharing this beautiful fundamental truth.

Dragos Roua Says:

28 September 2009 at 8:56 pm.

Been there so many times, Robin, I totally understand you. There is this feeling of powerlessness, of fate and lack of control that is almost unbearable. If you just look at the events, they were just events, it rained and it was a power failure and then a little spider. All these are manifestations of life :-) . But what puzzles you is your lack of control over this type of stuff, not the stuff itself.

And yes, Mercury is retrograde until October 6th. If I would have to share some of my Mercury retrograde stories we could easily start an independent horror movie company, that I can tell you. Just sit down and relax. Things are being stirred up at this time, they will emerge clearer and much more appealing out of this :-)

Robin Replies
Dear Dragos, what a beautiful heartfelt comment. I love this. Yes, as Liara says in her comment when we can detach from the outcome then refocus. Our focus is not longer on what we want or think “should” happen and it our day “should” go and hence a feeling of powerlessness, but our focus become one of everything happening is part of a great journey. I was touched by your honesty of having felt this way many times. I appreciate that greatly and well as your laugh out loud humor over Mercury being in retrograde and our independent horror movie company. Of course you sparked my curiosity THERE!! LOL!! Also loved when you said things will emerge clearer and more appealing. Thank you for such a beautiful, warm, wise and funny comment. It was a good one!! :)

What a humorous video this turned out to be!…your laughter is contagious..i totally can relate to such a bizarro week..had quite a few of those…i think if we are grateful and willing to accept, some fine things come out of it..not always noticeable now, maybe later on down the road…as an example i went through the ice frost storm in Quebec in 1994..lost all my food, plants, etc..no hot water..use to take quick cold showers, and slept in my bed with a ski-doo suit. plus i still had to go to work (they, the company had generators). but after 5 days i’d had enough..my car was a block of ice..what to do?. its a total black-out..but i do see candles in many houses windows and restaurants..kind of cool in a way right! eventually, i decided to phone a friend in an other town where some electricity was available but they had the same problem in many part of their town..so i headed out by bus to his place for a warm meal and hot shower…i had a great time there..the one thing i really remember is that when there is a disaster of some sort peoples /humans, really stick together and share memories of event and do laugh a lot..afterwards its back to normal situations..but this says that in hard times we somehow find strength to make the best of what we got, i walk out of that adventure with a lot more compassion and sharing thoughts…and some eat lettuce in the garden and chew on frosted beans..that is so funny..that is letting go my friend…i love humor… its in me too..and if you turn into spider women well some great adventures awaits you, ha-ha….peace

Dear Marcel, you are SUCH a cool person to get to know. Your life stories are endless and most amazing!! They parallel your ability for insight and wisdom. And not just insight from your mind alone or a book or teachings, but insight that IS you and wells up like a great river and comes from a life fully lived, no matter what is going on in that life. You have just embraced it all in that great colossal heart of yours and turned everything that was thrown at you into nourishment for growth. You used it all to enrich your life. —What a story about the ice storm. I know there were some this bad in Maine as well. Many people died. So I know the extreme situation of it and the intense cold. I love the image of you sleeping in your bed with a ski-doo suit on. Oh, I’ve been there when I lived in Maine and my chimney cracked and I had to turn the wood stove off. I unplugged the fridge and just put food out on the counter; it was that cold. —-I too love how people pull together and find hidden courage and kindness when times are extreme. It is a beautiful part of human nature. —-I so appreciate your sense of humor. That is SUCH an important part of living and letting go. It’s exciting that you have this humor in you as well. It is key to a well lived life. I find humor every day. —speaking of humor, I’ll let you know if I turn into spider woman! Hahahaha! I Love that. LOL!! Dear David, Hi my dear friend. So good to see you here. Yes, I like what you wrote about control. And yes, you are so right; the world would be a flat roller coaster without all these “unexpecteds” They make life magical and give us so many chances to grow and explore Life over and over. For ever shattering our attempts at control. Because control is not really where it’s at anyway. We can never control the world, but we can choose how we embrace and respond to it. I learned a long long time ago that there ain’t no perfect other than the one we create when we use everything to grow, experience life, and to continually rediscover who we are. So all these things happened, but in the end all of these don’t make our lives bad or good. It is how we choose to react to them that will define the quality of life that we choose to live with.

Adventures like these as I see it are the spice of life – and you had one “spicy” week indeed! But in the end how awesome that we can all laugh about it, take a deep breath and find wonderful things and so many things to still be appreciative and grateful for :)

Now the spider thing… that is a whole other story… Just kidding ;)

They are my teachers and guides. They are the kiss of opportunity! AS I told Wilma on this page; they continually give me new opportunities to explore life and get to know myself, over and over anew. I JUST LOVE THAT!!! I also am so touched that you love my videos. That warms my heart. I chuckled out loud over your spider thing. Hugging you, Robin

LOL, yowza, you really got hit hard by Mercury Retrograde, honey! The good news: ol’ Mercury went direct at 9:14am EDT today, so you can breathe a sigh of relief.

Wow, you guys got an early frost this year, no? Wonder if that portends a nasty winter.

I had to laugh at, “When all else fails, go into the garden and eat some lettuce for breakfast” because, well, you know I do just that every morning. :D

My, my, my…even Iktomi, the spider-trickster spirit, got in on the act! Too perfect. Really.

Okay. So, Mercury’s the Messenger of the gods…have you figured out the message yet of your bizarro week?

Fits & Giggles,

Robin Replies
Dear EM, well, that is good to hear about Mercury! LOL!! And YES! We have a couple of really heavy frosts. It was like October. I went out one morning and I could see my breath. I couldn’t believe it. I to wonder what the winter will hold. :O Would you believe that I ACTUALLY thought of you when I was sitting out there eating my lettuce with a bit of chives and dill. I kid you NOT. And I thought she is one of the few people I know who would sit right down with me and be right at home. LOL!! For it was really nothing as I do that often in the garden. And as you know I tend to eat a lot of greens in the morning or greens blended with water. But I knew it would be funny to others who don’t do that. It was even funny for me. —-As to the message of my bizarro week: I think it was a total shifting of and letting go, a clearing of energy for things to come. Hopefully I will have an exciting (for me) announcement in the next 1 – 3 weeks. All that went on this week was a total letting go of old ways that worked for a long time but will no longer work. I also think it was a complete severing or stopping or break in a line of energy that now starts up in a new way. All tied to where I’m headed.

I really relate to this part of BERN’s comment: “We can think of that which breaks down and vanishes as an exponential emptying process preparing you to receive in greater abundance. The spirit world is emptying your energy field of attachments to align you with something greater.” This SOOOO fits with what is happening in my life, which hopefully I can share in a couple of weeks. I’ll keep you posted. LOL!!! Thank you dearheart. xoxoxxoxo Robin

Kia ora Robin,
Your spider incident reminds me of Taylor in the mountains finally succumbing to having to use the long drop facility at the hut, only to have a huge weta, a large native prehistoric looking insect drop onto his lap as he sat there. I heard a scream and went running out thinking he had somehow managed to fall in or something. Instead I saw the weta there sort of looking at us both in an insect sort of way, then scooting off as Taylor is standing there with his long johns down. I just started laughing.
I guess we all have these weeks from time to time Wild Sister, and just have to remember that all those things gone wrong are merely temporary inconveniences, not real tragedies. Your laughter tells me this you already know. Laugh on Wild Sister!

Dear Robb, I am sitting laughing right now. Out loud. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this story of Taylor. It is so priceless. I am sooooo proud of you for making the time to take him. It may still be hard and communication may not be the way you would like, the way any parent who loves there child likes it to be, BUT I can guarantee that Taylor will NEVER forget that time with you. AND that is is ALL going into him, imprinting him and forging his character and his love for you. I was so like him at that age. And my dad, as I told you, still dragged me along, god love him. All those times still went into me and made me who I am; a woman madly in love with nature. I also LOVED the part of YOU standing there laughing at/with him. That just made me sooo happy. I guess because I see so much warmth in you face. You have a face and spirit mean for laughter my Wild Brother. You really do. And THAT makes me so happy. “Seeking Taylor”, “Little Snow Turtle”, “Brave little T”, “Beautiful Tara” and Courageous Earnest Robb” are in my thoughts always. Aroha my kindred Wild Brother. Robin

Robin,
Even with so many “disasters” during the week, you’re amazing upbeat attitude makes all the difference! I know it does! You are a shining light, even when “bad” things happen. And…it’s a great reminder that we always have a choice on how we’ll react in any given situation. And you’re choosing to see the good, or to see the fun anyway – just makes it all so much lighter.

On another note, I thought you’d lost it for a second there – when you grabbed hold of your sweatshirt and said something to the effect that you’d put on your trusty YELLOW (I heard the first half of Yellowstone – and thought – she’s lost it all! That’s not YELLOW, it’s PINK!) stone (oh….). Too funny! And the truth, Robin – I didn’t really think you’d “lost it”!!

My dear friend Lance, you are just too dang dear. I laughed over the YELLOW…stone. When I edited the film I was so tired from my week that I was listening and the SAME thing happened to me. I always feel seen with you and it so beautiful. I too feel like it’s how we respond. My husband is the same way and I just LOVE that, that we can laugh over things that most people would be angry about. We laugh over so many things. It’s a choice that we can make, as you say. And it’s one that we can learn to use over and over for everything that happens in our lives. And the more we do it the more we actually feel it and we really DO begin to let go of the things that don’t matter. Even if they matter we can see them in a new light, one that brings peace and even joy. Thank you my sincere friend.

Robin! I’ve just seen this post now…Thank You So Much for the lovely dedication, and I’ll be sure to show Liv this video tomorrow. She’ll be thrilled that you’ve thought of her, and will doubtless ask for you again and again. I agree – eating lettuce (or anything else) – from the garden can create a wonderful, deep connection to the soul, and can remind one of what is really important. I love the image of you sitting in your garden after such a falling-apart week, nibbling on lettuces and peas! I would have done the same thing.

I’m hoping that I can teach Liv what is important in this life, and that I can instill in her some of the remarkable and creative spirit that resides in you. Wish we lived closer, so that you could be an example for her. Guess the video will be enough, for now.

I LOVE YOU my dear wild sister – you are always in my heart. xoxoxoxoxoxo

Hey Robin, don’t eat worms in the garden, feed them to your little spider…hope your coming days bring nothing but improvement, happiness, and more fun. (loved the video!)

peace,

Robin, you are a true adventurer – the most important thing to bring along on our travels is a sense of humour, no? Thanks for being there, being you, reminding us all what’s important.

Ha! I always see days/weeks like that as nudges telling me to change up my game. Looks like you were getting more like a whack in the head with a 2×4 :) . As it turns out I am here now taking a look at old posts of new people in my cyberlife because twitter is down. Sunday morning and twitter is down! How am I supposed to get my daily dose of beautiful energy from all my beautiful tweeps? Well I have to dig a bit and find them “where they live”. I’m sure your retrograde time has turned into fast forward by now. Thanks for the smiles on this twitter dry day.
