What Do You See? Caption Contest
Posted by Robin Easton
I feel so alive, as if the entire world is mine. I like how my bare feet tread softly. Oh, dear Earth, you are so ingrained into my flesh that I don’t know where I stop and you begin. (Excerpt from Naked in Eden)
This past week got away from us, so we will have to conclude our series on sanity and insanity in the next post. But this is to your advantage! We will instead host another Create a Caption contest this week.
Create a Caption for this photo and have a chance to win a copy of my book, Naked in Eden: My Adventure and Awakening in the Australian Rainforest. As in the previous contest, a winner within the United States can choose between an autographed hardcover or a kindle copy of Naked in Eden. If you live outside the United States, you will receive a kindle copy of Naked in Eden.
Submit as many captions as you want. Anything goes; you can be poetic, wise as a sage, hysterically funny, or just plain persnickety. Have FUN!! One winner will be picked. Hurry and enter this contest, since it also closes December 10th, 2011. So get your captions in before then. Please forward this to your friends, or post on facebook, twitter, and other social networks to which you belong. Thank you my friends.
Much Love,
Robin

Hi Robin,
Wow, so many “captions” come to mind when I see this photo. Here are a couple that immediately cropped up:
1. Return to Nature
2. It’s not too late to heal the wounds we’ve inflicted on the earth…
3. Here I Stand, Divided Between Two Worlds

I will need to think about a caption…but last week I just seemed to be on the run…
Now need to go and write another book review for this week – I did a movie review last week of the BBC’s movie Creation It is about Darwin and seemed to slip by most of us. It made me think of you and your book….Worth the watch

I see sand. Lots of sand. Probably more sand than we have here on the East Coast. And then there is something going on in the sand. A colony of creative ants has been here, clearly, and done their best to build some ant condominiums in long, wavy rows because where you have lots of sand you will also have, inevitably, a great number of ants who want to do something with that sand and bare their industrious little souls to the world in the process. And then say “See, we may be small but we know stuff!”, which is, coincidentally, the same thing that is printed on the front of our six month old Kellan’s favorite shirt. And speaking of souls, what is this anomaly right in the middle of the condo complex? Clearly someone or something has modified the fluid design of this inspired project. Is it a footprint? But wait. There seems to be a little island condo nestled in the area where the heal should be. How is that possible? Wait. It’s NOT a condo. It’s a bar! Complete with their favorite brands of bug juice and honey. And the “foot” print is a giant swimming pool. Because you can’t have upscale condominiums without a swimming pool. Ah, our little buddies have done it again. It’s just their way of saying “Hello” while they are relaxing. Which, of course, they don’t do very often. And besides, a little rain is needed to fill it up. Soon, hopefully it will rain soon and this project will be complete. And it will be time to move on to the next ant “hill”. For the relatives. Because one thing you can say about our little ant brothers and sisters is, they take care of their own, and their homeless population is very low. Probably, it’s not something they are even familiar with, in fact.

Step bare and sure footed into Nature to erase the tread and dread that litters the earth.
Open and sensitive toes trumps that which is insulated.
Tread not in my free space because there is nowhere to go and no tracks to lay down.
Recall the invention of the wheel by discovering the raw nature of one’s foot.

As you run forward,
leave behind all that you have acquired,
all that is between you
and the Earth who loves you.
Strip off whatever separates you
from your wild self.
That animal
who has always been alive
in you
has waited patiently
for you to wake up
and feel how
wildness feels.
You will be fully awake
for the first time.
You will not want
to return to
the world of dreaming.
